LISE SHARFIN

Lise Sharfin is a sculptor based in Katonah, New York. Her studio practice is focused exclusively on wood carving.

She earned a BFA in sculpture from Cornell University, where she studied under the mentorship of Victor Colby and received the Fine Arts Department Faculty Medal. She earned an MFA in sculpture from Washington University in St. Louis.

Always looking to create a dramatic tension between the mass versus the negative space, the obdurateness of the wood versus the fluidity of the forms, she allows the natural properties of wood to guide her towards a conceptual and aesthetic meeting point. 

She is the founder of Two Dogs + a Caracal Studio, creating a collection of hand-carved wood talismans imbued with Reiki blessings.
