Richard Ten Dyke began his career as an engineer using room-sized computers to design ballistic missiles. After three years, he decided that a more interesting future lay in computers, rather than missiles. He joined IBM and moved to Bedford where he and his wife Muriel. a lover of horses, quickly blended into the community.

He brought with him a love of photography which he employed for his own pleasure and to provide publicity photographs for local theatrical, musical, and equestrian events. ‘My interest is the use of subject, light, and composition to tell a story and inspire curiosity.” He says. His work has been used for magazine covers and music albums. In 2011 he published a monograph of selected works entitled “A Conversation About Light.”
