Arman

(Armand Fernandez, 1928–2005), Untitled (Rose Accumulation), circa 1980s. A unique 20-compartment natural wood grid assemblage measuring approximately 20 x 17 inches. The structural grid features individual, preserved pink rose heads set against muted backdrops, with each isolated cell anchored by cast or found metal fragments resting at the base.

Provenance

Gifted directly to prominent New York and Los Angeles socialite, television host, and designer Nikki Haskell by renowned 1980s Madison Avenue art dealer Yves Arman. This exceptional unique piece has been held continuously within Nikki Haskell’s private estate collection until now. It is being publicly exhibited and offered for the first time by Red Fox Art Gallery.

Gallery Note
While a casual viewer might mistake this piece for simple decorative design, seasoned contemporary collectors will immediately recognize the definitive hand of Nouveau Réalisme master Arman. Famous for his seminal Accumulations series, Arman rejected traditional canvas to explore mass production, consumer culture, and natural lifecycle changes by repeating everyday items in structured grids. This specific shadow box swaps his familiar industrial elements like paint tubes or violins for the organic fragility of roses, meticulously documenting the lifecycle of the flower in a 4x5 cell layout. The addition of its direct provenance transforms the piece entirely. Gifted to Nikki Haskell by the artist’s son, the late visionary New York gallerist Yves Arman, this artifact stands as a documented 1/1 unique survivor. It represents an exceptional museum-tier highlight of the retrospective, offering an unrepeatable opportunity to secure a privately held conceptual masterwork born out of genuine 1980s art world synergy.
